General Officer Commanding H.B. M's Forces in China and Japan daked- Hong Kong, 27th Juno 1867. "
"I beg
to draw the attention of the Secretary of State for War to the circumstance of an application having been transmitted by the Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Richard Me Donnell to the Secretary of that for the Colonies in August last, for the surrender
Government of that part of the Kowloon "Peninsula which has been reserved for Military purposes, without any intimations to myself of such a request having been make ; and I was only apprized of it by the receipt of your letter No 374 Hong Kong dated 20th October 1866 kransmitting
a
copy of a letter from the Colonial Office to the Under Secretary of State for War dated 12th October 1866. I beg to submit that in
acendance.
